Below are some are current volunteer opportunities in our neighborhood.

Ryan Lake Shore Line Restoration

Volunteers are needed to assist with the maintenance and infill planting of the shoreline restoration at Ryan Lake. The shoreline restoration was initiated in 2004 in an effort to improve the water quality of Ryan Lake and enhance the landscape around North Minneapolis’ only lake. The native plants trap stormwater runoff, allowing the water to infiltrate for the plants benefits and prevent excess nutrients from entering the lake where they add to the degradation of the water quality. With some help from residents in weeding and infill planting on the shoreline, it is hoped that we will be able to take down the fence that surrounds the plantings this fall. If you are interested in helping with the Ryan Lake Shoreline restoration call the Victory Office at 612-529-9558 or e-mail us at vina@mninter.net.

ViNA office assistance

Victory Neighborhood Association welcomes volunteers who wish to help out with newsletter distribution, mailings, filing, copying and other general clerical duties at the Victory office. If you are interested please call the Victory Office at 612-529-9558 or e-mail us at vina@mninter.net.

Block Club Leaders/Contact persons

ViNA has a goal of having an organized block club on every block in the neighborhood. There are approximately 78 blocks in the Victory Neighborhood and at this time we have identified 35 organized block club sand leaders. Block clubs are organized and leaders trained by the Community Crime Prevention department of the Minneapolis Police Department. For more information you can call the Victory Office at 612-529-9558 or e-mail us at vina@mninter.net. If you are not interested in becoming a block club leader (or already are) but would like to serve as the contact person for the neighborhood association for your block please call us for more information.

Community Gardens Volunteer

The Community Gardens at Loring School welcomes residents who are interested in helping to maintain and expand the gardens. Even those of you who lack the proverbial “green thumb” and/ or a lot of time can lend an occasional helping hand with planting, weeding and watering. If you are interested in being part of this award winning garden you can contact Amy Chapman amy@paparoof.com or the Victory Neighborhood Association vina@mninter.net .
